Answer 1

There is an ongoing debate about whether students should spend more time on side subjects in university education. On the one hand, the side subjects, indeed, could provide many benefits to establish the ability of students. That said, I tend to believe that students should pay more attention to their major subject, which is a more realistic approach for students in (academics).

(讓步銜接詞:It is true that/ people in favour of this idea that…)Providing additional skills through interdisciplinary learning is a major benefit in study(ing) multiple subjects. Nowadays, most of the occupations in the society require combination of different skill(s), which cannot be implemented by single-field knowledge. Consequently, students studying multiple subjects could access more opportunities in their career, due to the unique expertise .

However, straining students’ stamina will be the significant challenge in learning additional subjects (discipline/course). A striking example is that studying a second subject means doubling the time spending(spent) in study, thus causing lack of leisure time for social life and relaxation. Besides, a schedule conflict is another challenge, two subjects in college will definitely have time conflicts in curriculums, students have to take the course for convenient (有點突兀), resulting in a less structured and coherent learning experience, which challenges the self learning ability of students. There are the reason(s) that most of the students cannot handle more than one subject simultaneously and achieve the expected results, especially in two unrelated subjects. The immediate consequence of multiple subject(s) without realistic consideration would be failing in both studies and receiving inadequate academic performance. In fact, most of the students give up to study second subject eventually.

In summary, the multiple subjects study is a challenge for students, if you can overcome the adversity, you would obtain a huge advantage in your career. However, learning two subjects is unrealistic for most of the students, focusing on their major subject is more practical to achieve professional qualifications.
